Back Story: A Lodge Built With Love & Legacy
Mahamaya Lodge is run by the Sitaram Agrawal family and Agrawal Medical Stores, Bada Bazar, Chirmiri. Founded in 1997, this lodge was born from the family’s desire to provide a clean, safe, and emotionally connected space for outstation visitors—especially those coming for business meetings, corporate work, and family functions.
It’s more than a hotel—it’s a heartfelt commitment to hospitality, grounded in family values and a deep connection to Chirmiri. For nearly three decades, we’ve served travellers with pride, love, and consistency.
About Chirmiri: A Hidden Gem of Chhattisgarh

Chirmiri is a scenic hill station located in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district. Previously part of Koriya, it is well known for its coal reserves and natural beauty.

Legacy of Coal Mining
Coal mining here began in the early 20th century:
- Chirimiri colliery started in 1932, followed by others like New Chirimiri (1942), and Pure Chirimiri (1945).
- By 1980, production grew from 264,000 to over 3 million tonnes.
- Mines were nationalised in 1973.
- The South Eastern Coalfields Limited, India's largest coal producer, operates here.
